Carl Sagan Observatory at 'Cerro Azul'

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES


This schedule of activities is tentative and it will be followed based on financial resources to continue the development of the Carl Sagan Observatory.

* January 2000

Installation of the pillar of support of the telescope with 1 m of diameter, 7.4 ms of height and weight of 1,600 km (carried out the 10 of January). Construction of the prototype building  (started the 14 of January and it will conclude the 31). Reception of the dome coming from Canada (January 22).

* February 2000

Conclusion of the building prototype and installation of the dome.

* March 2000

Reception of the solar-stellar telescope, filters and mount coming from England.

* Abril 2000

Installation of the solar-stellar telescope.

* Mayo 2000

Installation of the software of control and observation in order to begin remote control tests. Acquisition of detectors and system of collection of solar energy.

* June 2000

Acquisition and implementation of MPEG coders  and systems of communication in the prototype of the observatory in the Hermosillo Campus. Preparations for construction of the building of the observatory in 'Cerro Azul' and base in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora.

* Julio 2000

The work on communication systems continues. 

* Agosto 2000

Latest preparations to begin constructions in 'Cerro Azul' and Magdalena de Kino.

* September 2000

Beginning of construction of the building of the OCS in 'Cerro Azul' .

* October 2000

The building of the OCS in 'Cerro Azul' concludes.

* November 2000

Installation of solar energy system, meteorology station, system of protection against electrical storms, computer and communication systems  in the 'Cerro Azul'. Beginning of construction of Base in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora.

* December 2000

Beginning of monitoring conditions in the 'Cerro Azul'. Operations and Observations Base, in Magdalena de Kino, are been concluded.

* Enero-Febrero 2001

Monitoring conditions in 'Cerro Azul' continues. Preparations for transfer of astronomical equipment.

* March 2001

Transfer and installation of telescope, detectors and observation computer equipment to 'Cerro Azul'.

* Abril 2001

Period of testing of all the systems. First light in 'Cerro Azul'.

* Mayo 2001

Opening and total beginning of operations.
